The lotus flower begins in the mud and from there, it grows up toward the sunlight, while its roots remain anchored in the mud. It is a beautiful metaphor for the healing process.

Hi, I'm Maria. Did you know that trauma (whether it's the trauma of just existing in this skin suit, or a trauma history or event) causes us to have to disconnect from our authentic self? When this happens, there is a strong urge within to escape the present moment and our true selves at all cost. Our survival intelligence helps us do this in a myriad of ways like eating disorders, addictions, and all manner of skillful survival strategies, even personality disorders ... they are all adaptations to trauma. Trauma healing is about repairing our relationship we have with ourselves and with life so we can move beyond surviving and into thriving. I have healed through my own trauma and disordered eating patterns and I specialize in the facilitation of this healing with my clients.
