Top Supplements for Combating the Flu

1/28/2013

Here we are once again in the midst of a nasty flu season.
Many opt for the flu shot, but not me! I have my arsenal
of medicinal weapons that work great for the whole family.
My philosophy is that since humans lived without flu shots for
milenia, maybe there's another way to get through the flu and
end up with a stronger immune system to boot. But don't take
my word for it, if you like flu shots, have at it.
Here's what I always have on hand and find to be the best
supplements for flu or any other sickness that we end up
with.

*Homemade chicken broth with Celtic or Himalayan Salt
*Pure beef gelatin
*Honey Gardens Apitherapy Elderberry Syrup
*Honey Gardens Proplois Throat Spray
*Oil of Oregano
*Fermented Cod Liver Oil with High Vitamin Butter Oil
*Vitamin C and Vitamin D
*Probiotics - Bio K or see my info. below for info. on my
incredible 7 month, gut recolonization program.
*Aloe Vera to add to juice or a smoothie
*Zinc - for short term use only, it is recommended to
take 50mg per day at first sign of symptoms, disontinuing
use as soon as sypmtoms clear.
*Sleep - if you are tired, go to bed!
*Garlic - eat as much as you possibly can! Add it to everything.

Avoid all sugar and processed food. These foods lower the immune
system and 'fertilize' the pathogenic bacteria, fungus and parasites
in your body. Go off these foods and instead, recolonize your
colon with beneficial bacteria using my 7 mo. gut recoloization
program. *See my store for details.

I keep homemade broth in jars in the freezer so I always have it
on hand when we need it. I add some gelatin to each cup of broth
or to the whole pot, whichever is easiest. I add about 1 tsp to 1 TBS
to each cup or 1/4 to 1/2 cup to a batch. I follow the label instructions
on the other products and they all work like a charm.

The Honey Gardens Propolis throat spray is a miracle in a bottle.
It has tons of uses. It actually acts as an invisible band-aid. Propolis
is what bees uses to seal off their hive and it is very healing as well.
The spray is anti-viral and anti-bacterial too.
Whenever anyone can't sleep because they keep coughing, I spray
this in their throat and they go right to sleep. I've brought it to sick
families as well who were not sleeping and it always works like a little
miracle. One time, my husband cut himself really badly and all we
did was clean it and spray this on and it healed up perfectly (it does sting).
It's perfect to use for traveling too. spray it in your throat before you get on
the plane!

Bio-K probiotics has been shown to fight challenging infections even in
hospitals. It has 50 million living beneficial bacteria and many sceintific
studies proving it efficacy. My kids love it too. It's a yogurt-type drink, but
millions of times more potent than plain yogurt. It is much more expensive
than my 7 month program, but is great when you just want to run out
to the store and grab some while you're sick.

When Sourdough Bread with Butter Speaks...

1/22/2013

Is it possible that when we focus on obesity, overeating or dieting, we directly avoid the real issue which has nothing to do with overeating, obesity or dieting?
Do you find yourself often upset that you overate...again? Do you wake up in the morning already mad at yourself for what went into your mouth the day before, behind your own back? If so, you are in good company because this is the pattern I lived for more years than I'd love to admit. I really did wake up daily finding my shoulders up to my ears, filled with shame that I had violated my own self repeatedly via my pie hole...again. I'd start my days by making new rules I could break through my mouth. Of course, I set out not to break them, but break them I often did.

Then one day, as I sat at the dinner table, fully focused on a conversation I was having with a piece of sourdough bread, generously slathered with butter, that sat untouched on my daughter's plate, I woke up. I sat there as an observer of my own self, having a fight with sourdough bread and butter. I wanted that bread, or, more likely...the butter (bread was just a convenient delivery vehicle). I started to laugh as that bread looked at me so lovingly, so invitingly, so outrageously temptingly. And I stopped and felt inside me where this unceasing craving was coming from. It was under my breasts, above my belly button. This is known as the 'fire center' of the body, otherwise known as the solar plexus. It's where our creative energy comes from, our move forward energy, our vitality and sense of power. All at once, I realized that I was giving my creative energy to move forward in life, to live out my God-given purpose, to a piece of sourdough bread with butter sitting untouched on my daughter's plate, dead and limp. A piece of dead bread, and I let it have all my power, my focus. What was I missing out on as I focused so intently on this love affiar of mine? Was this really what I wanted?

I had given that tasty morsel a voice and power in my life. I was having a real conversation with it. I lauged out loud at the craziness of the situation. And...I woke up. I knew there was a powerful lesson here, that my craving for that bread was here for a reason and instead of focusing on the idiosy of the whole situation, I decided to allow it to be the beginning of a journey towards a more balanced love affair with my food.

And so this blog was born, to share with you all my secrets of allowing my relationship with food to be more healthy, more balanced, so I could get my gift out and start sharing it with the world while I experience a vitality I never knew before! I invite you to join me on the journey, on your journey. Let's go!
