It is a beautifully warm spring day in the Pacific Northwest and I was craving something raw, and hydrating. I happened to be browsing a cookbook and found this recipe. I got it from a great cookbook called Eating Out of Heaven's Garden, by Teri Secrest.
Ingredients: 2 avocados (I only used 1 because 2 would be too filling for me!) 8 to 12 ounces carrot juice Juice of 1 lemon or 1 drop lemon essential oil 2 to 3 TBS olive oil (I'd use coconut oil, but I left the oil out b/c the avocado was enough for me) 1 inch ginger root, peeled pinch cayenne pepper 1/4 tsp sea salt (I use Celtic or Himalayan) Directions: Juice the carrots. Then put everything in the blender and blend well. Enjoy! Ingredients:
1 cucumber 1 zucchini 1 apple, red or green 3 stalks celery 1 handful cilantro ½ lemon, mostly peeled with some skin left on. 1” piece of ginger, peeled 1 1 – 2” piece of fresh aloe gel or 1 TBS George’s Aloe 3 – 4 cups water Optional: If you don't already drink it upon arising, with some fresh squeezed lemon juice, you might add 1 scoop of Vitality Super Greens to your smoothie. Instructions: Place ingredients in blender and blend until very smooth, 1 – 2 minutes. Place in two separate jars so you drink half today and half tomorrow or half this afternoon and make a new one for tomorrow. As many of you know, I do not put leafy greens in my smoothie b/c I WAY over-did them and it seriously affected my thyriod. So, what goes into my smoothie? Today: 1 avocado 3 stalks celery 1 cucumber 1 cup mixed berries 1 large piece fresh aloe gel 1 handful parsley 2 scoops Orac Energy Greens 1 TBS Omega Nutrition Flax Meal About 3 - 4 cups water Blend until smooth. 1/2 for me, half for my hubby! Love having that ready in the fridge when I get hungry! And with the avocado, this is a filling meal. Ingredients: 1 medium zucchini 1 cucumber 3 stalks celery Big handful parsley or cilantro ½ lemon, mostly peeled, you can leave a little of the peel on b/c it is anti-bacterial, anti-cancer and good for the immune system! 1 green apple 1” piece of ginger 1" - 2" piece of fresh aloe gel. You can purchase a large stalk of aloe at any Asian market. Alternatively, you may purchase a commercially made aloe gel. I recommend George’s or Professionals Care.
